The Shape of Things to Come

The Shape of Things to Come is an annual season of short original performances commissioned from freelance artists.

The idea behind this initiative is to encourage performers to develop new performance modes in front of small, enthusiastic audiences.

06 – 08 JULY | THE BEAUTY OF BEING HERD by RUTH BERKOFF (The Cupboard)
Do you ever feel like an outsider? Like there’s something people aren’t telling you about the way the world works? A woman who has been desperate to fit in all her life decides to say goodbye to life as she knows it, and to live instead as a sheep.

20 – 22 JULY | STRIKE LIMITED by SARA HARTEL (Various Spaces)
Welcome to the world of game theatre, where the audience are also the contestants. Co-operate for mutual benefit, or betray your co-workers to get ahead.

27 – 29 JULY | HAVE YOU SEEN THIS GIRL? by REBECCA BATALA (The Cupboard)
A mother is looking for her daughter who was taken into care. What begins as an appeal for help unfolds as a horror story as things take a supernatural turn…

03 – 05 AUGUST | I DID NOT JUST WASTE MY LIFE by Aasiya Shah (Bunker Theatre)
Bringing the energy and physicality of the boxing gym into the theatre, AASIYA SHAH is a fighter preparing imminently to face her opponent.

10 – 11 AUGUST | THE RISING DAMP and OTHER TAILS by MARIANNE TUCKMAN (Various Spaces)
This immersive performance is a re-telling of Hans Christian Andersen’s ‘The Little Mermaid’ in the context of the housing crisis. Estate Agent Marianne Tuckman showcases our conveniently located character property in Swansea High Street. Also featuring Paul Davies.
