DYING AND RISING by CELYN OF GWENT
THURSDAY 08 OCTOBER 2026 7:30pm
Dying and Rising by Celyn of Gwent is a live solo audiovisual performance combining electronic music, ethereal live voice, sound-reactive visuals and poetic monologues.
Merging electronica, avant-pop and sound art with traditional folk ballads of the British Isles, the piece is an urgent artistic response to living through the climate crisis in 21st century Britain.

‘We will have no puff of smoke and bloodless resurrection.
We must tend a different garden from the poisoned soil.’
Each day the earth sinks deeper into turmoil.
Extractivist powers wage war and violence across the globe.
We bear witness to a constant stream of corruption and brutality.
More and more people feel increasingly alone.
Dying and Rising explores the intersection of ecology and identity in contemporary Britain through the perspective of queer Welsh sonic artist and storyteller, Celyn of Gwent.
The work has been developed with Mixing Engineer Helen Noir, alongside support from Help Musicians’ Next Level programme, and R&D funding from Tŷ Cerdd in partnership with SHIFT Cardiff. Dying and Rising is touring Wales and the UK with the support of Arts Council of Wales, to coincide with its Autumn 2026 studio album release and is presented at Volcano in partnership with NAWR.
Designed for audiences interested in boundary-pushing audiovisual performance, LGBTQ+ perspectives in contemporary art, traditional music reinterpretation and climate-conscious storytelling, Dying and Rising offers a powerful, evolving live experience where sound and image are tightly interwoven in real time.
