“The Viewfinder” is an exhibition of figurative painting and photography taking place from the 6th of December to the 13th by artist Jesse Lezama – originally from Trinidad and Tobago, living in South Wales from early childhood and currently based in Swansea. 

 

The paintings selected for this exhibition are a compilation of works done over the last 10 years by Jesse. They range from pieces documenting the last few years of everyone in his immediate family still living together, to placing those same people into his own  narrative representations. 

 

Present in all works on display is the peculiar insight of the artist into the characters of each

subject of his paintings.

 

“…There are so many other paintings that I have been meaning to do for years. The ones that have been done here are like a few loose pages that have survived from a poorly bound book.”
