Fri 10 Aug 2018 @Theatr y Maes, National Eisteddfod, Cardiff Bay
Inspired by the later short stories of KATE ROBERTS, this is a work in progress that captures fragments of Roberts’s meticulously observed landscape. Her sometimes poetic depiction of life in the slate-mining villages of north Wales stands in the tradition of social realism. This landscape of suffering and labour is rarely playful, but in our research and performance we hope to develop a new way of seeing this familiar past. Honouring Kate Roberts’s brilliance, we aim to present a performance language that might be aesthetic, outrageous, beautiful and even playful.
Presentation of a work-in-progress.
Post show discussion with the artists.
