Young Decision-Makers
For Young People aged 14-21
June 2022 onwards
As part of this IETM ‘Local Journeys for Change’ project aimed at amplifying the diverse voices of young people in the community, Volcano is recruiting and support a panel of young people, including those from refugee and ethnic minority groups, the LGBTQ+ community and young people with disabilities. This panel will have a role in steering Volcano´s youth theatre and will collaboratively develop its own manifesto, which Volcano will disseminate, endorse, and incorporate into its youth work.
Are you a young person, or do you know a young person (aged 14-21) who might be interested in being involved or who is interested in the arts and would just like to find out more? You can experience some of what we have to offer by signing up for one of our free events. These are all free to attend, informal and no-commitment.
SHOW AND OPEN AFTERNOON | Saturday 18 June 2:30pm
See our show ‘Sincere as Objects‘ for free, meet the artists, have a backstage tour and a go of the lights, then join us for refreshments and a chat.
BOXHEADS with CATHERINE BENNETT | Friday 12 August 2-4pm
Catherine is a director, performer and choreographer. With her you will learn how to experiment with ideas for performing, using simple everyday props – in this case cardboard boxes!
ART TOUR WITH DYLAN WILLIAMS | Friday 19 August 2-4pm
Dylan is an artist based at Elysium Studios, (above Volcano) who draws inspiration from what he sees when walking or cycling in the landscape of Swansea and South Wales – often at dawn or dusk. You’ll get a tour of the studios and a private view of an exhibition, before trying your hand at sketching or painting (outdoors, if the weather allows) with Dylan.
COSTUME DESIGN with ZEPUR AGOPYAN | Friday 26 August 2-4pm
Zepur is an award-winning costume and set designer and model maker, originally from Australia, based in Swansea. She has designed for performances by Volcano and National Dance Company Wales, and created freelance work.
